Origin is Absent depicts the ritualistic destruction of a Jeep Cherokee. Since the car's conception in 1941, the Jeep has been an American symbol of rugged untamed masculinity allowing its owners to 'go where no man has gone before.' It was the first of its kind with off-loading capabilities and the car was originally used for military missions and adventure seekers.
Within American vocabulary, the word Jeep elicits the image of wheels rolling over nature and through mud, unconstrained by rules of the road. Unlike its predecessors, the Jeep Cherokee is more compact and designed for mainstream America. Built for the masses, it has evolved into an icon of unadulterated freedom in today's urban and suburban lifestyle.
